asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is taking to implement the proposals of the Council of Europe on the employment ofau pairgirls in Great Britain.

Mr. Ennals:

The Council of Europe has not yet completed their consideration of this matter. In the meantime, as my right hon. Friend's predecessor informed the House on 27th July, we have decided to raise to 17 the minimum age forau pairgirls. This will apply to girls seeking to enter after 1st January, 1968.
