HC Deb 14 December 1967 vol 756 cc204-5W
Mr. Richard

Wainwright asked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs whether he will ensure that the Yorkshire and Humberside Economic Planning Council, before concluding its special study of the future of the Colne Valley, receives the results of the National Economic Development Council investigation of the wool textile industry.

Mr. Alan Williams:

It is for the Yorkshire and Humberside Economic Planning Council to decide how it will pursue its studies of the problems of its region. However, I am satisfied that any conclusions resulting from the Council's study of the Colne Valley will take due account of the investigations of the wool textile industry to which the hon. Member refers. The Chairman of the Economic Planning Council is also a member of the E.D.C. for the wool textile industry.
