HC Deb 14 December 1967 vol 756 cc202-3W
Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the fact that the breathalyser used by the police consists of a glass phial which has to be broken before use, to what extent a person blowing into it is in danger of inhaling glass particles if if such person has to blow more than once in order that the requisite amount of breath should pass through it.

Mr. Taverne:

I am advised that there is no danger of inhaling glass particles when the Alcotest is used in accordance with the instructions.
