HC Deb 12 December 1967 vol 756 cc73-4W
36. Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Minister of Power what effect the measures proposed in the Coal Industry Bill will have on the 24 per cent. addi- tional cost of gas in Scotland compared with the average price level in England and Wales.

Mr. Marsh

The Bill provides for reimbursement of any additional costs incurred by Gas Boards in using extra coal to help the coal industry instead of other feedstocks. The effect, in Scotland as elsewhere, will be that the Boards' total costs will be no higher than if they had adopted the most economic methods of production.
