83. Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Minister of Social Security why sick pay has not been allowed to Mr. D. Batsman of the Wivenhoe Cross Post Office, Wivenhoe, during the time he was in hospital in Holland, from 30th July to 4th October, as a result of contracting poliomyelitis.

Mr. Pentland:

Mr. Batsman was not covered by any of the exceptions to the general rule that people who are abroad are disqualified for receiving sickness benefit.
