HC Deb 11 December 1967 vol 756 c49W
Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Prime Minister if he will state his reasons for refusing to introduce legislation to give the nations of Scotland and Wales the self-governing constitutional status which the majority of their people want.

The Prime Minister

The Government do not accept that there is evidence of a general desire for self-governing constitutional status for Scotland and Wales.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Prime Minister if, in view of general public support in the whole of Great Britain for domestic parliaments for Wales and Scotland, he will recommend the appointment of a Royal Commission to report upon the question.

The Prime Minister

No.
