§ 72. Mr. Iremongerasked the Minister of Labour if he will make a further statement about the National Union of Bank Employees' claims for recognition and joint negotiating machinery with the London Clearing Banks' Committee.
§ 73. Mr. John Fraserasked the Minister of Labour if he will now set up an inquiry into the dispute between the bank employees and the banks about recognition of the National Union of Bank Employees for negotiating purposes.
§ Mr. Hattersley:My right hon. Friend hopes to see the parties to the dispute at an early date. In these circumstances I should prefer to say no more at this stage.
§ Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Minister of Labour what steps he is taking to intervene in the bank dispute to avoid a disruption of trade over the Christmas holiday period.
§ Mr. Oakesasked the Minister of Labour if he will seek to hold discussions with the Committee of London Clearing 13W Bankers with a view to the setting up of national negotiating machinery so that the National Union of Bank Employees may negotiate with the banks collectively on behalf of all bank staffs.
