HC Deb 04 December 1967 vol 755 cc215-6W
Mr. Prior

asked the Minister of Labour how many persons are engaged in shipbuilding work outside development districts and what is the cost of the Selective Employment Tax premium in respect of those workers.

Mr. Hattersley

Excluding those employed in Royal Dockyards, just over 50,000 persons are employed in shipbuilding ship-repairing and marine engineering outside Development Areas. The approximate cost of the additional amount in the Selective Employment Premium in respect of these workers is, for a full year, £900,000.
