HC Deb 04 December 1967 vol 755 cc238-9W
Mr. Hannan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state for each of the last five years at any convenient date, how many prosecutions took place under the licensing laws concerning the sale of drink to youths under age; how many youths were involved; and in how many instances the prosecutions were successful.

Mr. Ross

In 1966 42 persons were proceeded against for selling intoxicating liquor to persons under 18 years of age; 15 persons were convicted. The corresponding figures for 1965 were 58 and 35; for 1964 they were 36 and 21. I regret that information is neither available for earlier years nor about the number of young persons involved.
