HC Deb 04 December 1967 vol 755 cc236-7W
Mr. Hall-Davis

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the number of grants and the total value of grants made under Section 20(3)(a) and under Section 20(3)(b), respectively, of the Industrial Development Act, 1966, for each economic region of England in the financial year 1966–67.

Mr. Skeffington

In the year 1966–67 nineteen schemes for reclamation of derelict land were approved for grant under the Local Employment Act, 1960, or its successor the Industrial Development Act, 1966. These involved 242 acres and an estimated grant commitment of £171,125.

One of these schemes made under the Local Employment Act, 1960, covering 33 acres and involving grant of £24,275 was approved for the North West Region. All the other schemes related to the Northern Region.

The amount of grant paid during the year was £49,260. This related to schemes in the Northern Region, some of which had been approved in previous years. Grant is paid on the total cost of schemes and not separately on the cost of land acquisition and works.
