asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the current difficulties of the chipboard industry and the deleterious effects on the Scottish economy; and what steps he is taking to solve the problem.

U.K. consumption and production of chipboard have been rising steadily over recent years. Competition has become more severe since the removal of the temporary charge on imports and the last duties against imports from E.F.T.A. sources. But there is no reason why the British industry, with its advantages of proximity to the customer, should not continue to share in the expansion of the market.
