HC Deb 17 April 1967 vol 745 c37W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what increase or decrease there has been in the staff of his Department since 16th October 1964; and what increase or decrease he anticipates in the period up to 15th October, 1967.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

The staff of the Home Office has increased by 2,297 since October 1964. I expect a further increase of about 800 by October 1967. The additional staff will be required mainly for the implementation of the recommendations in the Report of the Inquiry into Prison Escapes and Security.
