HC Deb 17 April 1967 vol 745 cc26-7W
Mr. James Hamilton

asked the President of the Board of Trade when the advance factory now being constructed in the Bellshill Industrial Estate will be ready for occupation; if he has received any applications for this factory; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Darling

The third advance factory at Bellshill, which will be of 27,500 sq. ft., is expected to be ready for occupation by December, 1967. No application for the factory has been received.

Mr. James Hamilton

asked the President of the Board of Trade what plans he has for building more advance factories in the Bellshill Industrial Estate; how many and how soon they will be available; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Darling

My right hon. Friend has already authorised three advance factories at Bellshill. Two of these which have been allocated to tenants should be completed shortly and the third finished by the end of this year. There are at present no plans to build more advance factories at Bellshill. My right hon. Friend is, of course, aware of the unemployment problems in the area and will take account of its needs when arranging future programmes.
