HC Deb 14 April 1967 vol 744 cc274-5W
Mr. Whitaker

asked the Minister of Health what evidence he has received recently concerning baby-farms; and whether he will now take steps to ensure that standards are adequate.

Mr. K. Robinson

I have been informed of the forthcoming report prepared by representatives of several voluntary organisations on the care of young children outside their own homes. So far as day nurseries and child minding are concerned I sent a circular of guidance to the responsible local authorities in April, 1965, calling for a review of their supervisory arrangements, and the authorities' reports have where necessary been followed up by my officers. I am considering whether further guidance is desirable.
