§ Sir Knox Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state the number of unsolved murders which are being investigated by Scotland Yard; and whether he is satisfied that there is a sufficient number of experienced officers in the Murder Squad to deal with the increased rate of murders.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsSince 1st January, 1966, there have been thirteen murders in the Metropolitan Police District which have not yet been solved. Detective officers from Scotland Yard are assisting in the investigation of three murders or162W suspected murders in the provinces. The murder rate has varied little over a period of many years, and I have no reason to think that there are insufficient detective officers to deal with these crimes.
