HC Deb 04 April 1967 vol 744 cc27-8W
Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Minister of Health what estimate he has made of the probable emigration from Wales in 1967 to 1970.

Mr. Snow

Between mid-1964 and mid-1971 (the period for which forecasts have been made) no net migration gain or loss to the population of Wales is expected.

Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Minister of Health whether he will devise a scheme to obtain information regarding the age, sex, occupation, professional skills and qualifications, years of experience, destination, reasons for migrating, etc., from individuals and families migrating from Wales to other parts of the United Kingdom and overseas.

Mr. Snow

No. Information on the age, sex, occupation, qualifications and destination of migrants to other parts of Great Britain was collected in the sample census of population taken in April, 1966, and will be published early next year. For the years between censuses methods of improving statistical information about migrants, both within the United Kingdom and overseas, are at present being reviewed.
