58. Mr. R. C. Mitchellasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the difficulties caused by the shortage of geriatric beds in hospitals in Southampton; and what action he proposes to take to overcome this problem.
§ Mr. LoughlinYes. The Wessex Regional Hospital Board plan to use some existing acute beds for geriatrics when new acute beds are provided at the Southampton General Hospital. In addition a psycho-geriatric assessment unit will be opened at Moorgreen Hospital next year and a geriatric day hospital in 1968.
