Mr. Henig

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) for how many of those positions in the Standard International Trade Classification for which both the notional consolidated Common External Tariff of the European Economic Community and the tariff schedule of the United Kingdom are at ad valorem rates and where the United Kingdom tariff is the greater, the difference is, respectively, less than 5 per cent. on the value of the goods, between 6 per cent. and 10 per cent., between 11 per cent. and 20 per cent., and greater than 20 per cent.;

(2) what estimate has been made of the differences between the notional consolidated Common External Tariff of the European Economic Community and the tariff schedule of the United Kingdom for positions in the Standard International Trade Classification for which one or both apply a specific tariff; and for how many of these positions the incidence of the United Kingdom tariff is, respectively, the same as, higher than, or lower than that of the European Economic Community;

(3) for how many of those positions in the Standard International Trade Classification for which both the notional consolidated Common External Tariff of the European Economic Community and the tariff schedule of the United Kingdom are at ad valorem rates and where the European Economic Community tariff is the greater, the difference is, respectively, less than 5 per cent. on the value of the goods, between 6 per cent. and 10 per cent., between 11 per cent. and 20 per cent., and greater than 20 per cent.;

(4) for how many of those positions in the Standard International Trade Classification for which both the notional consolidated Common External Tariff of the European Economic Community and the tariff schedule of the United Kingdom are at ad valorem rates, the tariffs of the United Kingdom are, respectively, the same as, higher than, or lower than those of the European Economic Community;

(5) for how many positions in the Standard International Trade Classification the European Economic Community and the United Kingdom apply ad valorem and specific import tariffs, respectively;

(6) what, respectively, are the arithmetical and import weighted averages of the tariff schedules of the United Kingdom and the United States of America and the notional consolidated Common External Tariff of the European Economic Community;

(7) for how many positions in the standard International Trade Classification the tariffs of the United Kingdom and the United States of America and the notional consolidated Common External Tariff of the European Economic Community, respectively, are less than 10 per cent., between 11 per cent. and 20 per cent., between 20 per cent. and 30 per cent., and over 30 per cent.
