HC Deb 15 November 1966 vol 736 cc51-2W
Mr. Shinwell

asked the Minister of Technology whether he is now satisfied with the progress made in the field of technology by industrial firms in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Benn

The last two years have seen significant progress by British industry in the field of technology, for example in computers, numberically-controlled machine tools, nuclear power generation, hovercraft, automatic control of industrial processes and quality control. But tech- nological advance is continuing at an accelerating rate and there is so much more to be done that no Minister of Technology could ever by satisfied.
