asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has considered the letter from the Aberdeen Branch of the Scottish Housewives Association requesting greater representation by women in committees appointed by him; and what reply he has sent to it.

Yes. I have written to my hon. and learned Friend explaining that appointments to the Scottish Economic Planning Council and the Economic Consultative Groups are made from names put forward by representative bodies directly concerned with economic development in Scotland. None of these bodies has put forward a woman's name.
