§ 70. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement of his plans for extending the conservation, hatchery and breeding of fish in Scotland.
§ Mr. RossWe shall continue basic studies, in co-operation with the White Fish Authority and other interested organisations, to determine the environmental conditions necessary for successful marine fish farming. Research on the growth of salmon fry will be extended to cover the rearing of salmon to the smolt stage, and my Department's scientists will continue to assist angling clubs and others with advice about restocking and improving trout waters.
