HC Deb 02 November 1966 vol 735 cc123-4W
Mr. Shinwell

asked the Postmaster-General what representations he has received from hon. Members and the general public on the subject of pirate radio stations; and what replies he has sent.

Mr. Edward Short

I have received a number of letters and petitions from the general public urging me not to take action against the pirate stations and also some urging me to take action against them. Hon. Members have transmitted similar letters to me on behalf of constituents. In reply I have pointed out the dangers of allowing anarchy in the use of radio wavelengths to continue and underlined the need for legislation.
