§ 57. Mr. Burdenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that animal farms are opening in this country with the intention of breeding laboratory animals for sale to 131W research organisations outside the United Kingdom; and if he will take steps to make the export of these animals illegal.
§ Miss BaconSpecialist breeding of animals for research is well-established in the United Kingdom and was recommended by the Littlewood Committee. My right hon. Friend intends to consult interested bodies about the possibility of introducing safeguards for animals exported for research purposes.
