§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) whether he is aware that in four different parts of London the hon. Member for West Ham, North, has requested the police to take action in reporting a number of vehicles being used on the roads without road fund licences and that on each occasion action by the police was refused on the ground that the offence is now too prevalent to take action; and whether he will instruct the Commissioner of Police to ensure that action is taken by the Metropolitan Police when it is requested by the general public;
(2) whether he will instruct the Commissioner of Police to investigate after 14th May 1966, the number of unlicensed vehicles causing road obstructions in the area of North Pole Road, W.10, West-bourne Park Road, Ladbroke Road and Portobello Road; and whether he will direct the police to report the owners of these vehicles for breaking the law;
(3) whether he will request the Commissioner of Police to have an investigation made at some time after 14th May 1966 into the number of unlicensed vehicles parked in and around the vicinity of Hendon Central Station between the hours of 7.30 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. on any weekday and report those guilty of breaking the law to the appropriate authority;
(4) whether he will request the police to investigate on Saturday 14th May the number of vehicles parked in streets off the Wood Green High Road and Cheap-side, Wood Green, and report the owners of these vehicles to the appropriate authorities.
