HC Deb 04 May 1966 vol 727 cc111-2W
50. Mr. David Steel

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the fact that it is now her policy not to agree to railway closures where they conflict with Her Majesty's Government's regional planning, she will now announce that she will not approve the withdrawal of passenger services from the Edinburgh-Hawick-Carlisle line, in order to assure the line's part in the economic development of the Borders.

Mr. John Morris

My right hon. Friend's review of the Railways Board's request to pubish this proposal is almost complete, and she hopes to announce her decision before long.
