HC Deb 09 March 1966 vol 725 c568W
Mr. Wall

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what special instructions have been given to the Inland Revenue collectors of taxes to speed up the payment of tax; and why equal effort has not been made to repay over-taxation after claims have been submitted.

Mr. Diamond

It has always been the duty of Collectors of Taxes to obtain prompt payment of tax, and no special instructions have been issued recently. As regards repayments, the Inland Revenue endeavour to deal with taxpayers' claims as speedily as possible.
