88. Mr. Lipton

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether, in view of the fact that 100 soldiers are looking after 300 privately-owned horses and polo ponies in the United Kingdom, he will, for the sake of economy and the better use of military manpower, transfer those soldiers to more essential duties.

Mr. Reynolds

The rules prescribe that soldiers who wish to do this kind of work also remain available for military duty.
