HC Deb 27 July 1966 vol 732 cc303-4W
Mr. Ridley

asked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs to what extent the new economic measures are designed to put the United Kingdom economy in a position where Her Majesty's Government may successfully negotiate British entry into the European Economic Community.

Mr. George Brown

The purpose of the measures announced by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister was made clear at the time. Success in improving the state of our economy will bring nearer the day when we can carry out our policy of entering the European Economic Community.
