HC Deb 25 July 1966 vol 732 c211W
Mr. Thorpe

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will issue fresh directives to immigration officers to ensure that they consult the Home Office before rejecting coloured immigrants at ports of entry.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

Before denying entry to any person subject to immigration control, an immigration officer is already required to seek the authority of his immediate superior who must, where appropriate, refer the case to the Home Office for decision.
