asked the Minister of Transport if she will give the number of reportable accidents involving staff employed by British Railways and its subsidiaries in 1963, 1964, and 1965; and how many fatal accidents occurred in each of these years.

Accidents and casualties to staff reported to my right hon. Friend by British Railways are those concerned with the working of the railways. The staff casualty figures are as follows:

1963 1964 1965
Casualties 11,846 11,064 9,837 Persons
Fatalities 116 96 103 Persons

Accidents not connected with the working of the railways are not reported to her, but to the appropriate Minister.
