asked the Minister of Transport if she will give a general direction, in the public interest, to the Railways Board to modernise its fire insurance arrangements so that it no longer has to rely on the Fire Prevention (Metropolis) Act of 1774.

No. The protection of the Fires Prevention (Metropolis) Act, 1774, which applies to the country as a whole, is available, where appropriate, not only to any owner of property but also to their insurers.
