HC Deb 19 July 1966 vol 732 cc59-60W
Miss Quennell

asked the Minister of Labour how many industrial tribunals have been set up under Section 12 of the Industrial Training Act, 1964 ; how many appeals have been heard ; and what decision has been taken in each case.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

Industrial tribunals are appointed to sit as need arises. Up to 24th June, tribunals had held sittings in London, Glasgow and 17 other centres and had heard 2,331 cases, including 1,121 training levy appeals, and 1,156 redundancy payments cases. All the tribunals' decisions are entered in a register open to public inspection in the central offices of the tribunals in London and Glasgow. Reports of selected decisions are being published this week, and from now on at monthly intervals, by Her Majesty's Stationery Office.

Miss Quennell

asked the Minister of Labour if he will publish the names of those appointed to the tribunals under Section 12 of the Industrial Training Act, 1964.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The list is soon expected to contain over 500 names and in view of its size and the frequency of changes, I do not think that publication would be worth while. A copy of the latest list can always be made available to hon. Members who wish to see it, and one is being placed in the Library.
