HC Deb 18 July 1966 vol 732 cc7-8W
66. Sir W. Teeling

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the recent termination of the talks on Baltic bonds is permanent or if he will take the first steps to reopen them; and on which other Iron Curtain countries' bonds talks are still continuing.

Mrs. White

No settlement on post-1939 claims against the Soviet Union (including Baltic Bonds) was reached during the discussions which concluded on 14th April, but I would not regard the termination of the talks as permanent.

The exchanges with the Hungarians are continuing. Talks on the Rumanian bonded debt will be resumed when the time and place for the continuation of the negotiations on all outstanding financial questions have been agreed.
