HC Deb 21 February 1966 vol 725 cc1-2W
13. Sir E. Brown

asked the Minister of Labour how many amalgamations have taken place between trade unions since the passing of the Trade Union (Amalgamations) Act 1964; and whether he is satisfied with the working of the Act.

Mr. Gunter

One amalgamation and 10 transfers of engagements have so far been registered. It is too early to assess the effect of the Act but the total number of amalgamations and transfers registered is considerably higher than in the corresponding period before the Act came into force.
