asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what is the annual cost of the crews of Royal Fleet auxiliaries at the British base at Aden;

(2) what is the total annual cost of the crews of Royal Fleet auxiliaries at the British base in Singapore.

There are no Royal Fleet Auxiliaries permanently based at Aden. Three Royal Fleet Auxiliaries are permanently based at Singapore and the total annual cost of their crews is £125,000. There are a number of other Royal Fleet Auxiliaries operating in Far Eastern and Middle Eastern waters, which, like Her Majesty's Ships, are deployed wherever we need them.
