HC Deb 21 February 1966 vol 725 c30W
Sir R. Glyn

asked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs if he will place in the Library a copy of the statement he made and of the undertakings he gave to the unions he met during the recent talks on the pay and conditions of railway workers; to which unions the statements were made and the undertakings given; and if they were all repeated by him to the Trades Union Congress.

Mr. George Brown

The Answer to the first part of the Question is "No"; the trade unions represented at recent meetings with Ministers were the National Union of Railwaymen, the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen, the Transport Salaried Staffs Association and the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions; close contact was maintained with the T.U.C. throughout the discussions.
