HC Deb 21 February 1966 vol 725 cc29-30W
Mr. Onslow

asked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what level of expenditure on the purchase of United States aircraft for defence purposes during the period 1966 to 1971 was assumed in the calculations upon which the National Plan was based.

Mr. Albu

When the Plan was being prepared the Defence Review was still in progress and the Committee of Inquiry into the Aircraft Industry had not reported. No precise estimates were therefore available for purchases of military aircraft from the United States of America in the period 1966 to 1971; but the import estimate in the balance of payments figures for 1970 in the Plan include an allowance for the purchase of military equipment.
