asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what progress is being made towards the rating of empty properties; and if he will make a statement.

The possibility of rating empty property has been examined as part of the Government's study of the rating system. My right hon. Friend expects to announce the conclusions which we have reached within the next few weeks.
