HC Deb 02 February 1966 vol 723 cc220-1W
60. Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what has been the total cost so far to Defence Votes, including pay of the Service personnel engaged, of the oil airlift to Zambia.

Mr. Millan

The R.A.F. Transport Command oil airlift up to 27th January involved additional costs to Air Votes of about £355,000. Except for the cost of flying in fuel for the Javelin force, which is not separately identifiable at this stage, this expenditure will be recovered from the Commonwealth Services Vote. In addition, the normal pay of the personnel concerned cost about £35,000.
