HC Deb 02 February 1966 vol 723 c238W
Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Postmaster-General in view of the fact that the recent automatic and other improvements in Aberdeen city post office service were largely experimental and have proved successful, what further scientific advances he plans for Aberdeen postal service and for the parts of North-East Scotland which have a bearing on Aberdeen trade and industry.

Mr. Benn

Aberdeen has an early place in the national programme for extending coded addresses and automatic letter sorting. Advances of this kind in North-East Scotland are for the present being concentrated in Aberdeen, this office being at the hub of the postal services in the area.
