HC Deb 02 February 1966 vol 723 cc245-6W
Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what approval he has given to the building of a new old folks home at Airdrie; what is the nature of the accommodation involved; and what are the starting and completion dates, and the estimated cost of the project.

Mr. Ross

I have approved in principle the building of an old people's home containing 26 single and seven double bedrooms at Forrest Street, Airdrie. On 2nd November the town council estimated the cost of the home at £155,000. Since this seemed unusually high the Department wrote on 26th November asking for further information: the town council's reply is awaited.
