Mr. Fowlerasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether, in view of the unemployment problems of Malta, which will be aggravated by the services' run-down there, he will enforce the retirement of locally engaged Defence Departments' clerks at the age of 60 years, the normal retiring age, thus creating employment opportunities for younger men.
§ Mr. J. P. W. MallalieuThis is a normal provision of redundancy agreements. The arrangements for dealing with any redundancy of non-industrial staff, including clerks, in Malta are still being discussed however with the Staff Associations concerned.
