§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the President of the Board of Trade what action he proposes to take to implement the 344W recommendation contained in paragraph 435 of the Report on the Cadco Affair, suggesting a thorough investigation of the viability of any project and the financial standing of the sponsors before any contractual obligations are incurred.
§ Mr. JayThis recommendation relates to contractual obligations entered into by Development Corporations. The Board of Trade is always prepared to assist the Corporations where assistance under the Local Employment Acts is also requested; but these bodies are not my responsibility and I would refer my hon. Friend to my right hon. Friends the Minister of Housing and Local Government and the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Wales.
