HC Deb 02 December 1966 vol 737 cc156-7W
Mr. Birch

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the result of the vote on experimental television in the House of Commons on 24th November, he will ensure that no money is spent or committed on televising, experimentally or otherwise, the proceedings of either House of Parliament.

Mr. Callaghan

As regards the position in this House the Government is bound by the decision already taken. As to the other place, it would be proper to await further developments. In any event specific financial provision would be required which this House would have to approve before any new expenditure could properly be incurred.
