§ Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a comparison between the minimum retail prices which will result from common producer prices recently agreed at Brussels with those prevailing in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Peart. It is not possible to predict what the level of retail food prices will be in the countries of the European Economic Community when the common levels of producer prices that have been agreed come into operation. This will depend amongst other things on distributive margins and a number of other variable factors. But, taken overall, the producer prices agreed for the Community are substantially higher than our own and this must be reflected at the retail stage.
