asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will seek to arrange that all police patrol vehicles on motorways be coloured white so that they will be easily recognised by road users.

Regular motorway patrol vehicles are in general white or cream, but some of the Lancashire vehicles are orange and white.

The working party on the policing of motorways and trunk roads has under consideration the question of the most effective markings for police vehicles on these roads.
