HC Deb 03 August 1966 vol 733 c132W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Postmaster-General why, on Thursday 28th July, more than a week after the Government's announcement of a wage and salary standstill, his Department were advertising in the national Press for various vacant situations at salary scales which are due for review; and, as this is contrary to the Government's policy, what action he proposes to take to correct these misleading advertisements.

Mr. Edward Short

Pay reviews will, of course, be dealt with in accordance with Government policy, and in order to prevent misunderstanding steps have been taken to discontinue the use in recruiting advertisements of such terms as "pay scales subject to review".
