§ 8. Mrs. Joyce Butlerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what representations have been made to him by local authorities in regard to difficulties experienced by Her Majesty's Government's restriction of local authority spending; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. CrossmanI have received no general representations. A number of authorities have put forward special reasons for continuing particular projects; these are considered on their merits.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking local authorities for the way in which they have co-operated in applying these healthy but irksome restrictions.
