HC Deb 17 November 1965 vol 720 cc75-6W
68. Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the Minister of Transport what is the delay to traffic at peak hour periods caused by the roundabouts between the Chiswick flyover and Central London.

Mr. Tom Fraser

There are two roundabouts between Chiswick flyover and Central London at the junctions of Sutton Court Road and Great Chertsey Road with the Great West Road. These cause delays of up to 15 minutes in the morning and about six minutes in the evening.

Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Transport what are his present plans for reducing delays between the Central London area and the A.2 and A.20 routes to the South-East, particularly in the congested areas at Lewisham and Deptford.

Mr. Tom Fraser

The main routes between Central London and the A.2 and A.20 and the South-East are metropolitan roads for which the Greater London Council are both the highway and the traffic authority. So it is for the Council to formulate and implement any plans they think necessary for dealing with these routes.
