HC Deb 17 November 1965 vol 720 c76W
69. Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the Minister of Transport what conclusion he has reached about the effect of design on the amount of spray thrown up by vehicles in wet weather; and what representations he has made to manufacturers.

Mr. Tom Fraser

The improvement of passenger car design to reduce spray substantially is a difficult problem, but effective improvements could be made in the design of commercial vehicles. The amount of spray is, however, affected by other factors, chiefly speed.

We have asked manufacturers to see what can be done to improve commercial vehicles, but alterations of design and their incorporation in production necessarily take time.
